About the Image Contrast Adjuster

Contrast controls the difference between light and dark areas. Increasing it makes washed-out photos and scanned documents crisper; reducing it creates a soft, faded look. The adjustment pivots around mid-gray, the same curve the CSS contrast() filter uses.

How to use it

  1. Set the contrast change with the slider.
  2. Choose the output format.
  3. Drop images and download the adjusted versions.

Good to know

  • Strong increases clip shadows to black and highlights to white.
  • For scanned text, +30% to +60% often improves legibility.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between brightness and contrast?

Brightness shifts all tones lighter or darker; contrast stretches or compresses tones around the middle.

Does it change colors?

Saturation can appear stronger with more contrast because channel differences grow, but hue is preserved.
