About the Electricity Cost Calculator

Find out what your space heater, gaming PC, aquarium or air conditioner really costs to run. Multiply power by hours of use to get energy in kilowatt-hours, then by your electricity rate. The average US residential price is roughly 16–18 cents per kWh, but it varies a lot by state and plan.

How to use it

  1. Enter the device's power in watts.
  2. Enter daily hours of use and number of devices.
  3. Enter your price per kWh and read the costs.

Good to know

  • Results are estimates for planning purposes and not financial, tax or legal advice. Lenders and tax authorities may calculate differently.
  • Rated wattage is a maximum; many devices draw less on average. A plug-in power meter gives exact figures.
