About the Diff Checker

See what changed between two versions of code, configs or documents. Lines are aligned with original and modified line numbers, additions and deletions are color-coded, and you can export a unified diff (.patch) usable with git apply or patch.

How to use it

  1. Paste the original and modified text.
  2. Optionally ignore whitespace changes.
  3. Review the diff or download a .patch file.

Good to know

  • Comparison is line-based. For word-level edits inside prose, use Text Compare.
  • Your data is processed in the browser and never sent to a server, so it is safe to paste payloads that contain tokens or personal data.

Frequently asked questions

Can I compare two files?

Open each file in a text editor and paste the contents; drag-and-drop file comparison is not supported.

What algorithm is used?

The Myers diff algorithm, the same family used by Git.
