About the Image Color Picker

Upload a screenshot, logo or photo and click anywhere to read the exact color value. Hover to preview colors as you move, keep a history of picked colors and copy them in HEX, RGB or HSL. The tool also extracts the image's dominant colors, useful for building matching palettes.

How to use it

  1. Upload an image.
  2. Hover to preview and click to pick a color.
  3. Copy the value in the format you need, or click a dominant color swatch.

Good to know

  • Very large images are displayed at up to 1600 px; picked values come from that scaled copy, which averages neighbouring pixels slightly.
  • Colors from JPEG photos vary pixel to pixel because of compression and noise.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pick colors from my screen outside the browser?

Not from this page. Take a screenshot and upload it, or use the EyeDropper feature in Chrome/Edge developer tools.

How are dominant colors calculated?

Pixels are grouped into color buckets and the most frequent buckets are averaged, ignoring transparent pixels.
